On-Site Recirculating Sand Filters for Treatment and Disposal of Residential Wastewater
This historic report discusses the use of on-site recirculating sand filters (RSFs) as an alternative to conventional soil absorption systems in domestic septic tanks. The authors discuss the prevalence of housing units unconnected to municipal sewer systems – a full 25 percent in 1990 – and the need to explore technologies capable of producing less polluted effluvia.
