New Affordable Housing Answers Prayers in Southeast DC
The Washington Post (2/1, Fard, 553K) reports that in Southeast Washington, DC, "there was prayer as Ward 8 opened the doors to a new affordable housing development that Councilmember Marion Barry described as an illustration of Anacostia's long-awaited 'renaissance.'" This "$22 million development, which was built on church-owned property and includes 32 units dedicated to senior housing, is the culmination of a goal set by the Matthews Memorial congregation 28 years ago, church officials said."
