Yesterday the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced $120 million in federal funding for state housing agencies to provide long term rental assistance to lower-income persons with disabilities, many of whom are transitioning out of institutional settings or are at high risk of homelessness.

“HUD and HHS (the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) are working together to help states reduce health care costs, improving quality of life for persons with disabilities, and helping to end homelessness as we know it,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan.

Autism Speaks knows housing plays a critical role in the lives and independence of young adults and adults with autism.
