Housing Chronic Homeless may Save City Millions
On its website, KNSD-TV San Diego (4/11) reports, "Housing a handful of San Diego's chronically homeless may have saved taxpayers more than $7 million." Project 25's "Home Again" initiative housed 30 homeless people at a cost of about $97,400 per participant, compared to the nearly $318,000 on average each cost the government "before entering the program, estimated in emergency room visits, ambulance transports, in-patient medical stays, arrests and jail days."
