Tampa Area Has Nation's Highest Homelessness Rate
On its website, CBS (8/27) reports, "As Republicans gather for their national party convention in Tampa, they will be aware of the stormy weather but may not see another issue clouding the city. The Tampa-St. Petersburg metropolitan area has the highest rate of homelessness in the nation, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness in a report issued earlier this year - 57 homeless for every 10,000 residents." This area has approximately 16,000 homeless, and about one-fifth of them are children.
