New Ways to Use Less Energy at Home.

The Wall Street Journal (9/12, Carlton, Subscription Publication, 2.02M) reports that according to McGraw-Hill Construction, 16 percent of single-family homes that were built in 2010 had environmentally friendly or "green" features. Only 2 percent of newly constructed homes in 2006 had such features. The Journal notes that "green" homes usually cost 2 to 10 percent more than other homes, but that homeowners make up for the cost over time in energy savings.
