Housing Authority's Section 8 Rent Program to be Scrutinized
The Charlotte (NC) Observer (11/28, 148K) reports, "A third-party consultant began a review this week of the Charlotte Housing Authority's rent voucher and public housing programs, four years after a similar assessment found numerous errors within the authority's files. Penny VanderWall, director of Washington, D.C.-based Quadel Consulting, told housing authority board members Tuesday that a team of researchers will review a random sample of 150 tenant files from the voucher and public housing programs." The audit, which will cost nearly $68,000, will determine if the authority is adhering to its own rules, as well as HUD's.
