Old Salt Lake City Hotels to Get Makeover
The Salt Lake (UT) Tribune (11/30, Jensen, 108K) reports on the rebuilding of the Regis and Cambridge hotels in Salt Lake City. The hotels will have "136 'affordable' units" that "will serve low- and moderate-income households." Forty units will be reserved for "large families, five will be fully accessible for special needs, and 10 will be designated as 'Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS.'" HUD regional administrator Rick Garcia is quoted saying, "This project ... is a celebration of sorts" and praised "how well federal, state and local dollars were leveraged" by saying, "That is an amazing undertaking, particularly in today's development environment."
