Savannah, Georgia: Affordable Housing & Regulatory Reform Task Force Report
In 2007, Savannah, Georgia created the Affordable Housing and Regulatory Reform Task Force to identify barriers and possible solutions to the development of affordable housing in the city. The Task Force partnered with the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government to help identify existing locations of and determine the demand for affordable housing. This report presents the recommendations provided by the Task Force, which include establishing a local affordable housing fund, promoting employer assisted housing programs, allowing accessory dwelling units, revising parking requirements, and providing property tax relief for deed restricted affordable housing units.
