Traverse City, Michigan: A Regulatory Framework for Workforce Housing in Traverse City
This report presents recommendations from the Traverse City Workforce Affordable Housing Ad Hoc Committee to address potential regulatory barriers to the development of affordable housing in the region. The recommendations, which propose changes to the regulatory and incentive framework to increase the supply of affordable housing, include adoption of flexible zoning regulations and ordinances to allow cottage housing developments and accessory dwelling units. Other recommendations include infrastructure incentives, streamlined review processes, affordable housing trust funds, and neighborhood enterprise zones.
