Guide Describes HUD Programs for IHEs |
The Federal Government offers
programs in which institutions of
higher education (IHEs) can participate to better serve their communities.
A new report by HUD's Office of University Partnerships (OUP) describes HUD
funding programs for colleges.
Originally issued in 1996, An Introduction to HUD for Institutions of Higher Education has been updated substantively. The guide lists more than 20 programs, each with the following
information:
- A brief description of the program
and its purpose.
- Ideas on how IHEs can become involved with the programs in their communities.
- Eligibility and information on funding distribution over the past 2 years as well as details about anticipated funding. It also describes programs that no longer have an appropriation but still have active grants.
- Current and recently completed work in programs by IHEs.
- Contact information at HUD headquarters in Washington, D.C., and at the local level if applicable. This section also lists toll-free numbers and Web addresses.
The guide highlights ongoing HUD programs in which IHEs and their communities can create partnerships that will bring positive outcomes. Appendix I describes OUP's programs as well as non-HUD Federal programs available
to colleges. Appendix II lists the names and addresses of HUD field offices.
OUP, part of HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research, is committed to assisting IHEs as they join their neighbors in partnerships to address urban revitalization.
