The Anchor Institutions Task Force held its 2013 annual conference at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
The 2013 annual meeting of the Anchor Institutions Task Force was held in December at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The conference brought together scholars, university professionals, and other engaged practitioners to discuss the critical role that anchor institutions play in the well-being of communities across the country. Johns Hopkins leadership discussed neighborhood initiatives currently underway in Baltimore, and representatives from anchors such as Syracuse University, the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Atlanta-based Integral Group, and University Hospitals in Cleveland described programs with diverse approaches to improving economic development and health outcomes in low-income communities.
